May, 2008 Nomad Cafe gallery artist
Shelley Wineland
This show is based on the concept of taking the inside and displaying it on the outside. Instead of focusing solely on the aesthetic qualities of an individual, I wanted to represent people for what they are and how they feel. All the portraits you see are not of paid models, but rather of my friends and family who I have come to know so well. As you wander around Nomad, try to decipher the hidden meaning behind each portrait and consider what qualities would be depicted in your own image.
All photographs were taken with professional black and white 35mm film and were hand developed on silver gelatin paper.
